2023 Seeds Fund Recipient

In 2023, the Muungano cooperative received two Seeds grants to enhance the prospects of their member producers. This grant continues funding for an ongoing literacy project initiated in 2021. Responding to the findings of a survey revealing that nearly 70% of cooperative members lacked basic reading and writing skills. This project aims to reignite the initiative previously supported by Seeds, which had ceased due to financial constraints despite persisting need. Through this second phase, new beneficiaries will gain essential literacy skills that are invaluable for daily life and holistic advance coffee production.

  • Seeds Program

Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Seeds program. Annually, $1 per pound of our winter coffee blend, Iridescent, goes to further increase our contribution. Seeds offers financial grants to producers and producer organizations we work with to implement sustainability projects they identify as beneficial. To date, we’ve allocated over $450,000 to Seeds projects.
