2020 Seeds Fund Recipient

The Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Valle de Incahuasi in southern Peru utilized a Seeds grant to invest in apiaries for 24 of its coffee-producing members. Acknowledging the high dependency on the coffee crop, the complementary work of beekeeping will provide several benefits to producers. The increasing local and national market demand for honey will become a means for steady, supplemental income. Meanwhile, the bees, as pollinators, will assist in productivity of the coffee trees as well as the health and conservation of other local flora and forest plants.

Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Seeds program. Annually, $1 per pound of our winter coffee blend, Iridescent, goes to further increase our contribution. Seeds offers financial grants to producers and producer organizations we work with to implement sustainability projects they identify as beneficial. To date, we’ve allocated over $280,000 to Seeds projects.
